About the position

The Senior Data Advisor - Information Governance at Edward Jones plays a crucial role in enhancing the firm's information governance capabilities. This position involves collaborating with cross-functional teams to develop and implement strategies that ensure effective management of data and information throughout its lifecycle. The advisor will lead initiatives to establish oversight bodies, define roles and responsibilities, and promote a culture that values data as a critical asset. This role is integral to supporting regulatory compliance and driving value creation through informed decision-making.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to gather insights and champion their information governance needs.
  • Develop and mature an industry-leading posture on information governance across the full information lifecycle.
  • Create a robust operating model that outlines the structure, roles, responsibilities, and processes for effective information governance.
  • Enable governance and coordination across key stakeholders to ensure accountability and ownership of information assets.
  • Define and activate an enterprise approach of controls, processes, metrics, and roles for information asset management.
  • Collaborate with Digital and business units to ensure necessary tools and resources are in place for information governance.
  • Align existing processes with industry standards, best practices, and regulatory requirements related to information governance.
  • Promote a culture of accountability and compliance within the organization.
  • Support scaling of existing data governance services.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated experience and strong thought leadership with data and/or information governance strategies, policies, and frameworks from ideation through execution.
  • High level of working knowledge regarding industry trends, solutions, best practices, and information governance concepts.
  • Digitally savvy on how technology can be utilized to achieve information governance goals.
  • Advanced understanding of data and/or information governance, including records management, information lifecycle management, and risk management.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in data or information governance, knowledge management, or a related field.
  • Bachelor's degree in information management, Computer Science, Business Administration, or a related field.

Nice-to-haves

  • Professional certifications in information governance, data management, or related areas (e.g., CIPP, CIPM, CDMP).
  • Experience with governance tools and technologies.
  • Previous experience in a leadership role within information governance.
