About the position

SoundCloud is looking for a strategic Senior Data Analyst to join our Ads Product team. As a Senior Data Analyst, you'll play a crucial role in transforming our data into actionable insights. You'll enhance our dashboards and reporting systems, generate user segments for improved ad delivery, and implement predictive methodologies for better inventory forecasting. You'll collaborate closely with engineering and product teams, providing the analytical backbone for strategic decision-making. By conducting in-depth analyses, and presenting findings to stakeholders, you'll help drive continuous improvement in our ad platform. Your expertise will be instrumental in identifying trends, recommending optimization strategies, and ultimately contributing to the growth and efficiency of our advertising ecosystem. With your keen business intuition and your passion for user data, you are a strategic partner who guides and shapes product and business decisions that boost growth.

Responsibilities

  • Define, implement, and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and success metrics for our advertising business and our house ads.
  • Conduct exploratory data analysis to identify business needs, user preferences, pain points, and opportunities for improvement across the ads ecosystem.
  • Design, execute, and analyze A/B tests and experiments to evaluate the effectiveness of ad products, ad policies, targeting algorithms, and their effects on performance and user sentiment.
  • Communicate data-driven insights and recommendations to product, engineering, design, and leadership teams using clear and compelling narratives, visualizations, and presentations.
  • Collaborate with other analysts, data engineers, data scientists, and product managers to ensure data quality, consistency, and alignment across different data sources and platforms.
  • Develop and maintain dashboards, reports, and documentation to share best practices, learnings, and institutional knowledge across the organization.
  • Stay current with industry trends and best practices in ad tech and digital media analytics.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in product analytics, business intelligence, data science, or a related field.
  • 2+ years of experience in one of the following domains a plus: Ad Tech, Subscriptions, freemium based businesses, streaming services.
  • Deep understanding of the broader ads ecosystem, including programmatic advertising, DSPs, SSPs, and ad exchanges.
  • Experience with publisher-side ad platforms, including ad servers and yield management solutions (Google Ads Manager).
  • Familiarity with privacy regulations and their impact on ad tech (e.g., GDPR, CCPA).
  • Expertise in SQL and experience working with large-scale data sets on cloud platforms such as GCP or AWS.
  • Proficiency in data visualization tools such as Looker, Tableau, or Power BI.
  • Familiarity with event tracking, design and tag management solutions such as Segment, GTM, Adobe Launch, Tealium, etc.
  • Experience in designing, running, and analyzing A/B tests and experiments using one or more of the leading experimentation solutions (Statsig, Optimizely, VWO, etc).
  • Strong foundation in statistical methods and their practical applications in product analytics.
  • Familiarity with analytics engineering tools such as Apache Airflow, Dataform, dbt, etc.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to translate complex data into actionable insights and recommendations for different audiences.
  • Curiosity and passion to find & elevate the data narratives and exercise influence to drive change.
  • Experience in mentoring and training analysts and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Passion for music and interest in understanding user behavior and preferences in the music domain.
