About the position

The Senior Technical Data Analyst at Intermountain Health will support Cardiovascular Research by translating research aims into data requirements and deliverables. This role involves assembling high-quality datasets to address critical medical research questions, requiring deep technical expertise and effective communication with both technical and non-technical colleagues. The analyst will work within a multi-disciplinary team to contribute to groundbreaking medical research in the cardiovascular domain, while also mentoring junior team members and ensuring project priorities are met.

Responsibilities

  • Translate research aims into data requirements and deliverables.
  • Assemble high-quality datasets to answer medical research questions.
  • Query, clean, and combine data from multiple EMRs and data platforms.
  • Develop expert domain knowledge related to Cardiology.
  • Gather clinical requirements and interpret them as technical parameters.
  • Facilitate meetings with stakeholders to provide updates and set project priorities.
  • Mentor junior caregivers and provide technical guidance.
  • Work iteratively to refine data products to a high standard.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in an analytics related field with four years of relevant work experience, or a degree in another area with six years of relevant experience.
  • Advanced SQL ability and knowledge of database design and data modeling.
  • Significant experience in creating visually appealing reports and dashboards (e.g., Cognos, Tableau).
  • Proficiency in using word processing, spreadsheet, internet, e-mail, and scheduling applications.
  • Highly effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Subject matter expertise in healthcare or related data.
