About the position

The Senior Data Analyst - Research Analytics at Intermountain Health plays a crucial role in supporting Cardiovascular Research by translating research aims into data requirements and deliverables. This position involves assembling high-quality datasets to address significant medical research questions, requiring a blend of technical expertise, clinical domain knowledge, and effective communication skills. The analyst will work collaboratively within a multi-disciplinary team to advance scientific knowledge in the cardiovascular domain while mentoring junior team members and ensuring project priorities are met.

Responsibilities

  • Translate research aims into data requirements and deliverables for Cardiovascular Research.
  • Assemble and maintain high-quality datasets to support medical research questions.
  • Query, clean, and combine data from multiple EMRs and data platforms.
  • Develop expert domain knowledge related to Cardiology and healthcare systems.
  • Gather clinical requirements and interpret them as technical parameters for dataset development.
  • Facilitate meetings with stakeholders to clarify requirements and provide project updates.
  • Mentor junior team members and provide technical guidance on best practices.
  • Work iteratively to refine data products and ensure high standards are met.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in an analytics-related field with four years of relevant work experience, or a degree in another area with six years of relevant experience.
  • Advanced SQL ability and knowledge of database design and data modeling.
  • Significant experience in creating visually appealing reports and dashboards using tools like Cognos or Tableau.
  • Proficiency in word processing, spreadsheet, internet, email, and scheduling applications.
  • Highly effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Subject matter expertise in healthcare or related data.

Nice-to-haves

  • Competence in Python/R and data engineering experience.
  • Experience in scaled agile teams (SAFe®) or similar product management practices.
