About the position

The University of Connecticut School of Social Work is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Senior Data Analyst (Research Assistant 3) or Lead Data Analyst (Research Associate 1). This role supports the Innovations Institute's research and evaluation activities in collaboration with various government agencies, focusing on improving outcomes for children, youth, and families. The position involves data management, analysis, and visualization to inform best practices and guide strategic planning in public behavioral health services. The role is fully remote with minimal travel requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Manage data sets, including merging, recoding, and cleaning data using statistical software packages (e.g., SPSS, SAS, R, STATA).
  • Perform quantitative analyses to provide actionable insights.
  • Develop and use data visualization templates for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Contribute to written products for various audiences, including academic manuscripts and technical reports.
  • Summarize relevant background literature to interpret findings and write literature reviews.
  • Contribute to CQI and evaluation plans, including study design and data analysis strategies.
  • Work with stakeholders to identify research needs supporting CQI and evaluation goals.
  • Provide technical assistance to service providers and public agencies in data collection procedures.
  • Contribute to and manage work plans.
  • Present work to various audiences, including meetings and academic conferences.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field and 4-5 years of experience, or a Master's degree and 2-4 years of experience for Senior Data Analyst.
  • Master's degree and 8-10 years of experience, or a Ph.D. with up to one year of experience for Lead Data Analyst.
  • Skill in statistical programming and data/statistical analysis using software like SPSS, SAS, R, STATA.
  • Experience with large administrative datasets, including merging and cleaning data.
  • Knowledge of statistics, including bivariate, multivariate, and inferential statistics.
  • Experience creating visualizations to communicate findings from data analysis.
  • Knowledge of research study design and data collection procedures.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple projects.

Nice-to-haves

  • Knowledge of coding languages such as R, Python, SQL.
  • Experience with Power BI or similar data visualization software.
  • Knowledge of implementation science and rapid-cycle evaluation.
  • Ability to convey complex information clearly to stakeholders.
  • Experience developing relationships with diverse stakeholders.
  • Experience performing literature reviews and presenting results.
  • Data visualization skills with Tableau or similar software.
