About the position

The Senior Data Analyst will play a crucial role in Eversource's Resilience and Reliability group, focusing on implementing a data-driven strategy to enhance the electric transmission and distribution grid. This position involves analyzing data to support resilience and reliability initiatives, creating risk-based models, and collaborating with various teams to optimize project planning based on historical data. The role is essential for developing an enterprise-wide strategy that addresses the challenges of operating across multiple states (MA, NH, and CT) while ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Support the group's data collection, storage, and management efforts.
  • Review and analyze data from multiple internal and external sources.
  • Support internal and external tracking and reporting requirements associated with resilience and reliability.
  • Provide solutions to improve data quality and its implications for planning and business decisions.
  • Identify and remediate root causes of data issues and anomalies.
  • Translate results of statistical analysis and predictive analytics into actionable insights.
  • Develop analytics tools for resilience and reliability planning, including regulatory requirements.
  • Perform regular database management duties including backups and audits to ensure SQL databases remain accessible and secure.
  • Collaborate with multiple groups to access and aggregate data streams from various sources.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering or other quantitative field.
  • Minimum of five (5) years related experience in data analytics, data engineering, or Data Science.
  • Demonstrated programming experience using SQL, VBA, Python, MATLAB, R, and database programming (SQL Server, Oracle, MySQL, Access, SQLite).
  • Ability to analyze, infer, and interpret information to solve complex problems.
  • Experience working cross-functionally with various teams.
  • Commitment to a customer-first work ethic.
  • Fast learner with the ability to train others in the near term.
  • Interest in understanding the data needs of a regulated utility and the constraints of the regulatory environment.

Nice-to-haves

  • Familiarity with risk-based models and probabilistic analysis.
  • Familiarity with machine learning models.
  • Electrical or power engineering education or industry experience.
  • Experience with Power-BI.
