About the position

The Cloud FinOps team at Liberty Mutual plays a crucial role in maximizing the value of the organization's cloud investments. This team is responsible for providing detailed cost and usage data to the enterprise, managing a consumption-based chargeback program known as Pay as You Go. As a trusted advisor to technology partners, the Cloud FinOps team drives cloud financial optimization by offering education and optimization opportunity data that teams can act upon. This position involves evaluating business requirements related to cost transparency and optimizing cloud spending, ensuring that the organization can effectively manage its cloud resources and expenditures. In this role, you will consult on and research data structure and content issues, designing effective data solutions to meet the needs of the enterprise. You will collaborate with the Discovery data team and product suite to assist with various types of engineering and application enablement reporting. Your responsibilities will also include contributing to the development of project plans, assigning and monitoring tasks, and supporting the development team throughout the project lifecycle. During the testing phase, you will research test issues and data content, assisting with problem resolution as needed. Additionally, you will be tasked with researching and solving data issues from cloud providers such as AWS, Azure, and GCP, particularly concerning the monthly Pay-as-you-go products. You will participate in the creation and implementation of new standards and procedures, investigating components of new tools and techniques to enhance the team's capabilities. This position may require in-office attendance depending on the candidate's location, and it offers a dynamic work environment focused on openness, inclusion, trust, and respect.

Responsibilities

  • Participates in the evaluation of business requirements related to cost transparency and optimization of cloud spend.
  • Consults on and researches data structure and/or data content issues and designs effective data solutions.
  • Works with the Discovery data team and product suite to assist the enterprise with all types of engineering and application enablement reporting.
  • Assists with communication with Data, data products, value and reporting of data products, Data Warehouse, and Information Warehouse Environment.
  • Contributes to the development of project plans and may assign and monitor tasks.
  • Supports development team throughout project lifecycle; during test phase researches test issues and data content and assists with problem resolution.
  • Researches and solves data issues from cloud providers (AWS, Azure, GCP) especially with the monthly Pay-as-you-go products.
  • Participates in the creation and implementation of new standards and procedures.
  • Investigates components of new tools and techniques.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
  • Finance/accounting background AND technical knowledge/understanding, particularly AWS.
  • Strong communication & presentation skills (oral, written, PPT).
  • Problem-solving ability to decompose a problem into component parts and solve piece by piece.
  • Knowledge of accounting/finance AND technology.
  • Ability to evaluate complex business requirements.
  • Experience transforming common system requirements into data models.
  • Able to consult on complex data structure and/or data content issues and design effective data solutions.
