About the position

The Senior Data/Analytics Engineer SME at LCG is responsible for leading the design, development, and implementation of advanced data and analytics solutions. This role requires a subject matter expert with extensive experience in data engineering, analytics platforms, cloud architecture, and full-stack development to deliver scalable and innovative solutions. The position plays a crucial role in integrating data from various sources, building efficient data pipelines, and applying analytics to drive mission-critical decisions, while collaborating effectively with stakeholders to support data-driven modernization initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the architecture and development of end-to-end data solutions aligned with USDA's IT modernization objectives.
  • Identify opportunities for innovation and create scalable, data-driven solutions to enhance client services.
  • Design and implement secure, reliable, and scalable data pipelines across cloud platforms, primarily AWS.
  • Lead the development of advanced analytics capabilities using machine learning and artificial intelligence techniques.
  • Oversee the full-stack development process, ensuring seamless integration of data across platforms.
  • Develop and deploy cloud-based solutions that support data analytics, leveraging cloud-native technologies.
  • Apply advanced analytics and data visualization to enhance user experience and deliver mission-critical solutions.
  • Drive innovation by staying informed of emerging data technologies and continuously improving data processes.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to technical and non-technical stakeholders, communicating complex data concepts effectively.
  • Foster collaboration across cross-functional teams to align data and analytics initiatives with client goals.
  • Lead data engineering projects using Agile methodologies, ensuring timely delivery and high standards of quality.
  • Ensure all data solutions meet stringent security and privacy standards in compliance with federal regulations.
  • Develop test plans and implement quality assurance processes to guarantee performance and security benchmarks.
  • Inspire teams to embrace digital transformation and foster an innovative culture within the organization.
  • Act as a change leader, guiding the organization through complex digital transformation journeys.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field; a master's degree is preferred.
  • 10+ years of experience in data engineering, analytics, cloud architecture, and full-stack development.
  • Proficiency in AWS cloud services, including Redshift, S3, Lambda, Glue, and RDS.
  • Advanced knowledge of data integration, ETL processes, and data warehousing techniques.
  • Strong programming skills in Python, SQL, Java, and Scala, with experience in data visualization tools like Power BI, Tableau, or Looker.
  • Familiarity with machine learning models and AI frameworks for predictive analytics.
  • Extensive experience working in Agile environments and using Agile project management tools like Jira or Trello.
  • Expertise in data analysis and applying quantitative methods to solve complex problems.
  • Strong communication skills to engage and influence stakeholders at all levels.
  • Proven ability to lead teams in digital transformation efforts.
