About the position

The Senior Data Architect Lead at Guardian is responsible for establishing and maintaining a robust data infrastructure that ensures high-quality, consistent data access for authorized users and applications. This role involves leading the development and delivery of data software products, managing workflows using Agile methodologies, and designing data architecture solutions that align with business objectives. The position requires collaboration with stakeholders to define requirements, prioritize tasks, and implement data integration strategies while ensuring adherence to data management standards.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the development and delivery of data software products.
  • Manage the flow of work using Kanban and/or SAFe Agile methodologies.
  • Design and implement data architecture solutions to support business objectives.
  • Define and prioritize the team backlog and manage stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with the Head of Data Architecture to define requirements and set priorities.
  • Implement data software development methodologies and optimize workflow processes.
  • Work with an agile team to deliver and evolve data engineering and services.
  • Perform data analysis activities including data profiling and creation of data dictionaries.
  • Design, deliver, and document multi-platform architecture focusing on data standards and performance.
  • Develop and maintain logical and physical data models for supported applications.
  • Coordinate across organizations to support data integration efforts.
  • Support and apply data standardization policies and maintain process quality.
  • Participate in quality assurance (QA) and user acceptance testing (UAT) for data initiatives.
  • Seek innovative solutions for data challenges.

Requirements

  • 15+ years of IT experience, with 10+ years as a Data Architect or data engineer.
  • Solid grasp of data architecture principles, patterns, and data governance.
  • Expertise in relational database concepts and experience with SQL, NoSQL, Oracle, Hadoop, and Postgres.
  • Proficiency in data modeling tools, preferably Erwin, with strong logical and physical data modeling experience.
  • Hands-on experience in data engineering with extensive knowledge of SQL and PySpark on Databricks.
  • Experience designing, building, and optimizing data pipelines for large-scale data warehousing projects.
  • Familiarity with cloud data services such as Redshift, RDS, Snowflake, and Databricks.
  • Demonstrated expertise in data sourcing, profiling, mapping, and analysis.
  • Strong SQL and PL/SQL experience, skilled in creating and optimizing queries.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with ETL concepts, preferably Informatica or Syncsort.
  • Familiarity with SQL-on-Hadoop technologies (HIVE, Presto, Spark SQL, Databricks).
  • Ability to design cloud and on-premise data solutions.
