The Senior Data Architect plays a crucial role in providing technical expertise and support for data architecture related to reporting services. This position requires a deep understanding of data warehouses, data marts, and business intelligence enterprise reporting. The architect will work with large and moderately complex data sets to evaluate, recommend, and support the implementation of business strategies. A key responsibility is to identify and compile data sets using various tools to help predict, improve, and measure the success of key business-to-business outcomes. The architect will also develop tools and processes to maintain a common, firm-wide data standard, implementing norms for the creation and maintenance of common data dictionaries. This role is essential in supporting and maintaining strategies to reduce data redundancy, thereby increasing the consistency, quality, and confidence of data used for decision-making. In addition to technical responsibilities, the Senior Data Architect will work closely with team members on the daily execution of deliverables and assist less experienced team members as needed. The architect will ensure alignment with Synovus business architecture and strategy, participating in and supporting new business intelligence initiatives related to the supported business area. This includes participating in meetings with managers and subject matter experts to define and gather requirements and overall objectives. The architect will work cross-functionally with varying data owners across the organization to support the implementation of processes and procedures that ensure governance, stewardship, transparency, and control of Synovus data assets is maintained at all times. The role also involves participating in testing appropriate toolsets for data governance processes, building an enterprise data asset map and data dictionary, and working with Engineering to establish gating, data utilization policies, and external agency guidelines. The architect will execute system testing, participate in the analysis and reconciliation of data, and maintain and report all relevant product, site, and customer metrics, applying findings to develop appropriate goals and projections. Documentation on data requests will be created as they are fulfilled, including validation, testing, and user acceptance. Furthermore, the architect will identify opportunities for Master Data Management to standardize data definitions and implement accurate and complete metadata, while also identifying and exploiting opportunities for enhanced Business Intelligence that align with the company's business architecture and strategy. As a liaison between internal business customers and Information Technology on tactical projects, the Senior Data Architect will build close working relationships with all partners and participate in new business intelligence initiatives related to the supported business area. Each team member is expected to be aware of risk within their functional area, observing all policies, procedures, laws, regulations, and risk limits specific to their role, and raising and reporting known or suspected violations to the appropriate Company authority in a timely fashion. The position may also involve performing other related duties as required.
