The Senior Data Architect at NiSource plays a pivotal role in the IT organization, which is responsible for all systems across Customer, Corp, and Technology Domains. This position is essential for creating high-quality data assets that align with business requirements. The Senior Data Architect collaborates closely with business, IT, and analytics teams to understand data needs and design optimized data structures. By leveraging best practices, the architect aims to reduce redundancy, streamline data flow, and enhance enterprise data management, ultimately creating timely, reliable, and scalable data products. As a recognized subject matter expert, the Senior Data Architect tackles complex problems with a broad perspective. This role involves coaching, reviewing, and delegating tasks to less experienced professionals, ensuring that the team is well-equipped to handle the demands of data architecture. The architect will work with IT and EA leadership, business leaders, and service providers to develop and implement data architecture strategies, as well as methodologies and processes to ensure compliance with these strategies. Key responsibilities include translating business requirements into technology requirements, defining data standards and principles, designing the enterprise data management framework, and analyzing business needs to create long-term solution data models. The architect will also design and implement effective database solutions, lead data modeling strategies for complex projects, and provide architectural leadership on the design and development of solutions for the NiSource enterprise. Throughout the project lifecycle, the Senior Data Architect will create architecture documentation and deliverables, ensuring that all solutions are well-documented and aligned with business objectives.
