About the position

This transformation is crucial as it makes trading fixed-income more accessible, ultimately improving transparency, efficiency, and competition in the marketplace. The role of a Senior Data Architect is pivotal in this journey, as it involves leading the development and implementation of the Data Distribution Platform within the Data group at MarketAxess. This is a hands-on role that requires leading engineering team members and collaborating closely with other team members to propose and implement innovative solutions. The Senior Data Architect will establish and lead with meaningful engineering discipline, combining software and systems to develop creative engineering solutions. Passion for technology, software engineering, quality, and addressing business problems innovatively is essential. The role also emphasizes collaboration, continuous improvement, and learning, welcoming diverse perspectives and challenging assumptions to foster innovation and growth. In this position, the Senior Data Architect will lead a team of engineers to deliver a robust data delivery platform, applying knowledge to build applications using the latest technologies and frameworks hosted on cloud infrastructure. The architect will ensure that technology decisions align with enterprise standards and strategy, evaluate and recommend technologies for flexibility and long-term viability, and provide technical leadership to agile teams. Collaboration with peer architects to refactor business processes and improve customer experience is also a key responsibility. The role requires close work with Product/Application teams in technology evaluation, selection, recommendation, and configuration, ensuring that the solutions developed meet the strategic goals of the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Lead a team of engineers to deliver a robust data delivery platform.
  • Build applications using the latest technologies and frameworks hosted on cloud infrastructure.
  • Ensure technology decisions align with enterprise standards and strategy.
  • Evaluate and recommend technology and frameworks for flexibility and long-term viability.
  • Provide technical leadership and hands-on solutions to agile teams, preparing design artifacts and implementation of solutions.
  • Collaborate with peer architects to refactor business processes and improve customer experience.
  • Work closely with Product/Application teams in technology evaluation, selection, recommendation, and configuration.

Requirements

  • Minimum Bachelor's Degree in computer science or related field or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 10+ years of industry experience in an architecture and/or software engineering role.
  • Deep hands-on experience in software development with Java, event-driven paradigms, Spring Framework/Spring Boot.
  • Deep knowledge of application platforms like FIX, Kafka, Ignite, Containers.
  • Deep knowledge in ETL / ELT / API / Stream processing technologies.
  • Good understanding of Database technologies including RDBMS, TimeSeries, BigData.
  • Experience with building and delivering API frameworks using solutions like GraphQL.
  • Experience with building CI/CD pipelines.
  • Demonstrable ability to analyze business direction and problems, understand long-term vision and risk in developing strategic technical solutions.
  • Proven and comprehensive knowledge of APIs, UIs, infrastructure, data architecture, security, and new technologies.
  • Authoritative understanding of the agile development process and DevOps practices.
  • Ability to work both independently and with all levels of the organization, including technical and non-technical team members.
  • Strong presentation skills: written and verbal communication including the ability to influence.
