About the position

The Senior Database Analyst position at the Florida Department of Law Enforcement involves overseeing database administration and management within the Production Systems Services bureau. This full-time role requires expertise in various database management systems, including Oracle, SQL Server, and MySQL, and focuses on ensuring data integrity, security, and availability. The analyst will collaborate with business experts to develop database infrastructure and design requirements while implementing security measures and backup procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Testing and implementation of database systems.
  • Planning, coordinating, and implementing security measures to safeguard computer databases.
  • Management and administration of Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server, and MySQL database software and databases.
  • Installing, configuring, patching, and maintaining Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server, and MySQL database software and databases.
  • Acting as a custodian of data integrity, efficiency, availability, and security within the organization's database data.
  • Providing database backup and recovery services.
  • Developing and maintaining utility programs, scripts, and routines for management of database systems on Red Hat LINUX and Windows server systems.
  • Providing network support services for database-related network technologies and adapters such as TNS, ODBC, JDBC, OLEDB, and .Net.
  • Assisting in the establishment and enforcement of database administration policies, standards, and procedures.
  • Collaborating with business experts to develop and document database infrastructure or design requirements.
  • Administration and support for multiple statewide applications.

Requirements

  • Experience designing, developing, testing, documenting, and implementing databases.
  • Experience installing and maintaining Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server, and MySQL software and databases.
  • Knowledge of Oracle and MySQL database management technologies in a UNIX/LINUX operating system environment.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server database management technologies in a Windows operating system environment.
  • Knowledge of Oracle network connectivity.
  • Knowledge of SQL and PL/SQL languages.
  • Knowledge of UNIX/LINUX operating system and commands.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Server operating system and commands.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both written and verbally.
  • Ability to work in a team environment.
  • Ability to plan, organize and coordinate multiple concurrent projects and work assignments.
  • Ability to write technical data processing reports.
