About the position

As a Senior Data Center Analyst at Ensono, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of our data center environments. This position involves system monitoring, production batch monitoring, and workload throughput management for both internal and external client MVS / ZOS / VM/VSE environments. You will be responsible for batch and system task abend recovery, ensuring that production processing meets the agreed service levels and requirements set by our clients. The role requires a high level of interaction with both internal and external customers, necessitating effective and professional communication skills. You will complete daily shift turnover and customer checklists associated with the assigned client environment, ensuring that all incidents are thoroughly documented in the company's designated Incident Management tool. Proper escalation of events or incidents that may impact service levels is also a key responsibility. You will ensure that system IPL, maintenance, and backup processes are performed according to a predetermined schedule and established procedures. Additionally, you will document and approve all operations-related changes in the designated Change Management tool prior to implementation, following up to close completed changes with valid data. The position also requires adherence to documented processing procedures and the ability to suggest updates and improvements as needed. The work schedule includes 12-hour shifts on a rotating basis, with weekends and holidays required as per the shift schedule. Occasional travel (approximately 10%) may be necessary for client site visits to acquire knowledge of new business. This role reports directly to the Manager of Mainframe Operations.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor and manage internal and external MVS zSeries and VM/VSE environments to ensure production processing meets internal and external client agreed service levels and requirements.
  • Complete daily shift turnover and customer checklists associated with assigned client environment, facilitating both written and verbal turnover.
  • Document deviations within the company's designated Incident Management tool, providing clear and tangible details surrounding each incident.
  • Properly escalate all events or incidents that may impact our ability to meet agreed service levels.
  • Ensure system IPL, maintenance, and backup processes are successfully performed according to predetermined schedule and established procedures.
  • Document and approve all operations-related changes in the designated Change Management tool prior to implementation, and follow up to close completed changes with valid data.
  • Adhere to company documented processing procedures for internal and external clients, suggesting updates and improvements as needed.
  • Organize tasks to work independently and provide hands and feet support as required.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned or designated by Operations management.

Requirements

  • 8+ years experience in IT and with system monitoring.
  • Proficient in MS Office (Excel, Word, and Outlook).
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Designing skills.
  • Analytical and critical thinking skills.
  • Ability to represent Ensono in a professional manner to clients.
  • Knowledge of mainframe (TSO, SDSF, TMS, QuickRef) and server scripts (read & code Midrange server knowledge).
