About the position

As a Senior Data Center Infrastructure Technician at Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI), you will be responsible for managing on-site vendor activities, ensuring quality assurance, and overseeing project planning and control within data centers located in the greater Dallas/Fort Worth area. This role requires a hands-on approach to deliver solutions for OCI's valued customers, focusing on structured cabling and adherence to quality standards in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

  • Manage on-site vendor activities and connectivity within expansions and projects.
  • Set clear expectations with the site team and build relationships with installation partners.
  • Perform physical inspections to ensure vendor work meets quality standards.
  • Validate physical installs, test reports, and material accuracy during network expansions.
  • Create and maintain daily project and program scope, schedules, and achievements.
  • Collaborate with the Data Center Operations team throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Ensure vendor cabling and fiber equipment meet OCI specifications.
  • Manage daily work through internal tooling systems such as JIRA and Confluence.
  • Identify and respond to risks and high-priority issues effectively.
  • Document activities and ensure consistency with standard operating procedures (SOPs).
  • Participate in training to bridge skill gaps and learn new technologies.
  • Train peers in industry standards.

Requirements

  • 3 to 5 years of experience with structured cabling.
  • Expert knowledge of industry cable testing procedures and equipment for multiple cabling systems (Copper/fiber testing, OTDR, VFL, etc.).
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong interest in learning new data center networking concepts and technology.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to travel within a dedicated Availability Domain.

Nice-to-haves

  • 2-year or 4-year degree or relevant work experience.
  • 3 years of experience in structured cabling (Copper/Fiber) and testing of cables.
  • Ability to read and comprehend cut-sheets and cabling matrices.
