About the position

As a Senior Data Center IT Support Technician (DCT) at Microsoft, you will provide essential IT support for secure access workstations, laptops, servers, and conference room audio/visual systems. This role is critical in maintaining the infrastructure that powers Microsoft's cloud services, ensuring that devices are updated and operational. You will also be involved in training other technicians and ensuring compliance with safety and operational protocols, contributing to a positive team environment and the overall success of the Cloud Operations & Innovation (CO+I) team.

Responsibilities

  • Provide IT support for secure access workstations, laptops, servers, and conference room A/V systems.
  • Maintain inventory of spare devices and ensure the latest updates and operating systems are installed.
  • Demonstrate expertise in standard processes and procedures, reviewing process changes for impact.
  • Ensure compliance with Global Data Center Operations and service-level policies, completing assigned tickets efficiently.
  • Delegate hardware installation and other tasks to technicians, preparing for hardware startups and shutdowns.
  • Ensure post-execution quality checks are performed by technicians and verify compliance with safety protocols.
  • Apply advanced diagnostic and troubleshooting expertise to identify issues and guide technicians in replacing faulty components.
  • Communicate and report incidents following established procedures, and decommission hardware for complex changes.
  • Contribute to issue tracking and client relations, collecting service metrics and maintaining awareness of key performance indicators.
  • Train other technicians on the job and facilitate compliance with safety procedures.

Requirements

  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent with basic knowledge of computer hardware and components.
  • 2+ years of experience supporting IT equipment or related technology, or equivalent experience.
  • Ability to work 12-hour shifts, including non-standard business hours such as evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Ability to meet Microsoft, customer, and/or government security screening requirements.

Nice-to-haves

  • Technical College degree in Computer Science, Math, Telecommunications, or equivalent work experience.
  • Applicable certifications: CompTIA, Microsoft, Network Certifications.
  • Experience operating heavy-load movement equipment (pallet jacks, chassis lifts, etc.).
  • Flexibility to work non-business hours, including weekends and/or holidays.
  • Valid license to drive standard street-legal automatic transmission vehicles.
