About the position

The Senior Data Center IT Support Technician (DCT) plays a crucial role in providing IT support for secure workstation laptops, servers, and conference room audio/visual systems. This position is integral to maintaining the infrastructure that supports various online services, including Bing, Office 365, Xbox, OneDrive, and the Azure platform. The role emphasizes personal and professional development, offering training and growth opportunities within a large global portfolio of data centers.

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate expertise in standard processes and procedures, reviewing process changes to evaluate their impact.
  • Ensure compliance with Global Data Center Operation and service-level policies, completing assigned tickets efficiently.
  • Delegate hardware installation and other work to technicians, preparing and performing hardware startup and shutdown.
  • Ensure technicians perform post-execution quality checks and verify compliance with safety protocols and deployment standards.
  • Apply advanced diagnostic and troubleshooting expertise to identify issues and guide technicians in replacing faulty components.
  • Communicate and report incidents following established procedures, and decommission hardware for complex changes.
  • Contribute to issue tracking and client relations, helping to collect service metrics and maintain awareness of key performance indicators.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of cross-functional support processes and train other technicians on the job.
  • Facilitate compliance with safety procedures while adhering to all safety, security, and data management protocols.
  • Reinforce a positive team environment by sharing information and responding to feedback.

Requirements

  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent with basic knowledge of computer hardware and components and 2+ years of experience supporting IT equipment or related technology.
  • Ability to work 12-hour shifts, including assignments during non-standard business hours, which may include evenings, nights, weekends, and/or holidays.
  • Ability to pass a Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.
  • Verification of citizenship due to citizenship-based legal restrictions.

Nice-to-haves

  • Technical college degree in Computer Science, Math, Telecommunications, or equivalent work experience.
  • Applicable certifications such as CompTIA or Network Certification.
  • Experience operating heavy-load movement equipment (pallet jack, chain lift, etc.).
  • Flexibility to work non-business hours (shifts) that may include weekends and/or holidays.
  • Valid license to drive standard street-legal automatic transmission vehicle within the local jurisdiction.
