About the position

As a Senior Data Center IT Support Technician (DCT), you will play a crucial role in providing IT support for secure access workstations (SAW), laptops, servers, and conference room Audio/Visual (A/V) systems. Your responsibilities will include maintaining an inventory of spare devices for the site and ensuring that the latest updates and operating systems (OS) are installed on all devices. You will be part of the Cloud Operation & Innovation (CO+I) team, which is essential for delivering the core infrastructure and foundational technologies for online services such as Bing, Office 365, Xbox, OneDrive, and the Azure platform. Responsibilities

  • Building working relationships with people working within the data center and at corporate.
  • Ensuring SAW devices are in a 'healthy' state, meeting Security compliance standards.
  • Receiving confidential information to perform BIOS setting changes.
  • Managing SAW inventory, including ordering, receiving, assigning/reassigning, and decommissioning devices.
  • Providing guidance to users for common SAW repair issues and escalating issues experienced by users.
  • Performing Return Merchandise Authorization (RMA) for SAW damaged within the first 30 days of receipt.
  • Providing Senior Data Center Technician-level support when needed, including performing power cycles, swapping out failed components, handling storage media, and troubleshooting when necessary.
  • Performing cable installation, hardware rack/stack installation, testing, and troubleshooting using standard data center processes.
  • Supporting the deployment of on-site DC physical infrastructure including Server, NetDevice, SAN, Windows Server OS Support, part/component replacement, and physical hardware troubleshooting when needed.
  • Assisting Data Center Inventory and Asset Management Team with shipping/receiving and inventory management to address high work volume as required.

Requirements

  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent and basic knowledge of computer hardware and components.
  • 2+ years of experience supporting IT equipment or related technology.
  • Ability to work 9-hour shifts, including shift assignments during non-standard business hours that may include evenings, nighttime, weekends, and/or holidays.
  • Ability to meet customer and/or government security screening requirements, including a Cloud Background Check and citizenship verification.

Nice-to-haves

  • Technical College degree in Computer Science, Math, Telecommunication, or equivalent work experience.
  • Applicable certifications such as CompTIA or Network Certification.
  • Experience operating heavy-load movement equipment (pallet jack, chain lift, etc.).
  • Flexibility to work non-business hours (shifts) that may include weekends and/or holidays.
  • Valid license to drive standard street-legal automatic transmission vehicle within your DC's local jurisdiction.
