The Network Engineer will play a crucial role in the operations of the network, ensuring that all company connections are implemented and maintained at a highly available, enterprise level. This position involves a blend of project work and system support, as the Network Engineer will be part of a team responsible for managing the network infrastructure environment. This includes ensuring the appropriate configuration, maintenance, and installation of routers, switches, appliances, hardware, software, and tools. The individual will be tasked with maintaining the health and security of the route switch environment by keeping the latest patches and updates, configuring systems, and utilizing monitoring systems to identify and resolve issues. The role will primarily focus on project work, which includes significant initiatives such as a data center build, leveraging new technology with megaports, integrating 3rd party provider links, implementing SaaS solutions, and redesigning Azure environments. The Network Engineer will collaborate closely with department leaders to identify, design, and develop strategic network solutions that comply with technical and security policies. This collaboration extends to networking and technical teams, as well as Information Security, particularly on new initiatives. As a subject matter expert in various Jackson network technologies, the Network Engineer will assist in maintaining the network environment, which includes configuration management, IOS updates, and patches. Troubleshooting network issues will be a key responsibility, utilizing industry-standard network tools and monitoring systems. The role also involves firewall configuration and implementation, with a preference for Firepower or Checkpoint, and support for Fiber Channel Infrastructure and various network appliances. The Network Engineer will also be involved in Business Continuity testing and will provide after-hours on-call assistance on a rotational basis. A strong knowledge of Internet services, encryption, and network-based protocols is essential, along with familiarity with routing protocols and VPN configuration. Additionally, coding skills in languages such as Terraform, Python, PowerShell, or Yang will be beneficial.
