About the position

The Senior Data Center Site Negotiator at Google plays a crucial role in securing infrastructure for the company's growth by leveraging deep market knowledge and technical expertise. This position involves overseeing vendor and partner relationships, ensuring contract compliance, and identifying cost-effective solutions for data center needs. The negotiator will work closely with project teams on site development, manage utility infrastructure, and present recommendations to leadership, ultimately impacting operational costs and supporting Google's strategic objectives.

Responsibilities

  • Work with internal and external technical teams to identify, define, and pursue new site expansion projects and initiatives necessary to meet Google's ongoing data center needs.
  • Implement strategy to enable ongoing infrastructure growth at existing sites.
  • Foster an open and inclusive workplace for colleagues in day-to-day interactions and conversations.
  • Negotiate all types of contracts with vendors, landowners, and key suppliers for space and utility services.
  • Lead the development of strategic agreements with vendors and manage relationships with local officials and utilities.
  • Develop and implement metrics for mapping, tracking, and managing a broad range of portfolio management issues regarding site/infrastructure development.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 14 years of experience leading negotiations or business development.
  • Experience working with colocations or data centers managed by third-party vendors.
  • Experience managing utility agreements and energy-related issues.
  • Experience in financial modeling and implementing clean energy initiatives.
  • Experience with power transmission and distribution, telecommunications infrastructure, data center technology, industrial-class electrical and cooling technology, or other related technical areas.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in real estate development, evaluation, acquisition, construction, and site selection for industrial-scale projects.
  • Experience in indirect taxes, economic development policy, infrastructure development, agreement drafting, and presentation development.
  • Ability to think outside the box and propose commercially and technically creative solutions.
  • Ability to comfortably work in ambiguous, collaborative, and fast-paced environments.
