About the position

The Senior Data Center Technician (SDCT) plays a crucial role in the operation and maintenance of data center technology, ensuring the efficient functioning of IT equipment and infrastructure. This position requires expertise in standard procedures for installation, diagnostics, troubleshooting, and decommissioning of equipment, as well as a comprehensive understanding of network and server interactions. The SDCT will also provide guidance to other technicians and contribute to service quality improvements while working in a mission-critical environment that supports major online services.

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate expertise in standard procedures for preparing, installing, diagnosing, troubleshooting, replacing, and decommissioning IT data center technology and equipment.
  • Provide guidance to other technicians on process changes and review Process Change Notifications (PCN).
  • Complete assigned tickets efficiently and in alignment with relevant Key Performance Indicators (KPI).
  • Perform quality control activities and ensure compliance with safety protocols and deployment standards.
  • Apply advanced diagnostic and troubleshooting expertise to identify and resolve technical issues with minimal disruption to customers.
  • Communicate and escalate technical or safety-related incidents to direct-line management.
  • Mentor and support the training of less experienced technicians through on-the-job training (OJT).
  • Participate in daily safety briefings and adhere to safety procedures.

Requirements

  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent with basic knowledge of computer hardware and components and 2+ years of experience supporting IT equipment or related technology.
  • Ability to work 12-hour shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
  • Associate's degree in Computer Science or related field and/or equivalent work experience with 5+ years of experience supporting IT equipment or related technology.
  • 2+ years of experience working in a production, mission-critical 24x7x365 data center environment.
  • Applicable certifications such as CompTIA (A+, Server+, Network+), Data Center Foundation Certification (DCFC), or Vendor-Specific Network Certification.

Nice-to-haves
