About the position

The Senior Data Center Technician (SDCT) plays a crucial role in the operation and maintenance of data center technology, ensuring the efficient functioning of IT equipment and infrastructure. This position requires expertise in standard procedures for installation, diagnostics, troubleshooting, and decommissioning of equipment, as well as a comprehensive understanding of network and server interactions. The SDCT will also contribute to service quality improvements and provide guidance to junior technicians while working in a dynamic and mission-critical environment.

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate an understanding of standard procedures for preparing, installing, performing diagnostics, troubleshooting, replacing, and/or decommissioning IT data center technology and equipment.
  • Review Process Change Notifications (PCN) and understand their impact on work execution.
  • Comply with Data Center business unit policies, procedures, and deadlines with guidance from experienced technicians.
  • Complete assigned tickets efficiently and in alignment with relevant Key Performance Indicators (KPI).
  • Develop and employ effective execution strategies for assigned tasks, including hardware setup and shutdown.
  • Perform diagnostics and troubleshooting to identify and resolve technical issues with minimal disruption to customers.
  • Communicate and escalate technical or safety-related incidents to direct-line management.
  • Directly perform decommissioning and implement changes to infrastructure with minimal guidance.
  • Participate in daily safety briefings and adhere to safety procedures and protocols.

Requirements

  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent with basic knowledge of computer hardware and components and 1+ years of experience supporting IT equipment or related technology.
  • Ability to work 12-hour shifts, including evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Ability to meet customer and/or government security screening requirements.

Nice-to-haves

  • Associate's degree in Computer Science or related field and/or equivalent work experience with 3+ years of experience supporting IT equipment.
  • 2+ years of experience in a production, mission-critical 24x7x365 data center environment working on networking and/or break-fix.
  • Experience handling AI GPU equipment (H100, A100 or equivalent).
