About the position

The Senior Data Center Technician role at TEKsystems involves working onsite in Phoenix, AZ, where the technician will be responsible for preparing, staging, and performing startups and shutdowns of data center equipment. The position requires a strong understanding of IT cabling, computer hardware, and troubleshooting techniques, with a focus on ensuring quality and safety protocols are followed during operations.

Responsibilities

• Prepares, stages, sets up, and performs startups and shutdowns of data center equipment according to specific instructions and protocols.
• Performs post-execution quality checks to verify proper setup of grounding, staging, labeling, and cabling according to safety protocols and deployment standards.
• Conducts diagnostics and troubleshooting to quickly identify issues and replace faulty components.
• Decommissions hardware for changes and refreshes, following standard procedures with minimal guidance.
• Communicates, reports, and escalates incidents as per established procedures.

Requirements

• 3-5 years of data center experience required.
• Previous IT cabling experience is required.
• Technical degree or equivalent technical aptitude is preferred.
• Basic knowledge of computer hardware, servers, and components is necessary.
• Any technical certification (e.g., CompTIA A+, Net+, Sec+) is a plus.
• Any previous IT experience is beneficial.
