About the position

The Senior Data Engineer at Amazon Health Science & Analytics will play a crucial role in leveraging data to enhance the health and well-being of customers and members. This position involves designing and building scalable data architectures, developing analytics to drive insights, and ensuring data quality across various teams. The role also includes mentoring junior team members and collaborating with cross-functional teams to promote data-informed decision-making.

Responsibilities

• Partner with internal teams to develop flexible and scalable analytics for insights and decision-making.
• Design and build reliable, performant, and high-quality scalable data architecture, data models, and pipelines.
• Create critical business-level aggregated tables at One Medical.
• Build suites of standard KPIs and metrics.
• Define the strategy for data modeling and warehousing accessed by teams and analysts.
• Implement data quality detection to identify and resolve data issues in transformation stages.
• Champion data-informed decision-making among stakeholders including product management, operations, and finance.
• Build and improve data tooling in collaboration with data engineering and platform teams.
• Mentor junior team members and broader Amazon Health Services organization.

Requirements

• 5+ years of data engineering experience.
• Experience with data modeling, warehousing, and building ETL pipelines.
• Proficiency in SQL.
• Experience in at least one modern scripting or programming language (Python, Java, Scala, or NodeJS).
• Experience mentoring team members on best practices.
• Experience working with DBT.
• Experience in dimensional data modeling and schema design.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with big data technologies such as Hadoop, Hive, Spark, EMR.
• Experience operating large data warehouses.
