About the position

The Senior Data Engineer at Amazon Health Science & Analytics will play a crucial role in leveraging data to enhance customer health and well-being. This position involves collaborating with various teams to develop scalable analytics, designing robust data architectures, and ensuring data quality. The engineer will also mentor junior team members and promote data-informed decision-making across the organization.

Responsibilities

• Partner with teams across the company to develop flexible and scalable analytics for insights and decision-making.
• Design and build reliable, performant, and high-quality scalable data architecture, data models, and pipelines.
• Create critical business-level aggregated tables at One Medical.
• Build suites of standard KPIs and metrics.
• Define the strategy for data modeling and warehousing accessed by teams and analysts.
• Implement data quality detection to identify and resolve data issues in transformation stages.
• Champion data-informed decision-making among internal stakeholders.
• Build and improve data tooling in collaboration with data engineering and platform teams.
• Mentor junior team members and broader Amazon Health Services organization.

Requirements

• 5+ years of data engineering experience.
• Experience with data modeling, warehousing, and building ETL pipelines.
• Proficiency in SQL.
• Experience in at least one modern scripting or programming language (Python, Java, Scala, or NodeJS).
• Experience mentoring team members on best practices.
• Experience working with DBT.
• Experience in dimensional data modeling and schema design.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with big data technologies such as Hadoop, Hive, Spark, EMR.
• Experience operating large data warehouses.
