About the position

The Senior Data Engineer will enhance the district's data infrastructure to facilitate critical decision-making by stakeholders. This role involves designing and maintaining data warehouses, building sustainable data pipelines, and coordinating data governance across various departments. The engineer will also create and troubleshoot ETL scripts, monitor data pipelines, and ensure data integrity standards are met.

Responsibilities

• Improve the district's data infrastructure to support critical decisions made by stakeholders.
• Design and maintain data warehouses and build sustainable data pipelines.
• Coordinate data governance across the Assessment, Technology, and Information Department and other departments.
• Create and troubleshoot ETL scripts in various programming languages.
• Proactively monitor data pipelines for completeness and accuracy, resolving issues with stakeholders.
• Maintain the district's data warehouses and reporting platforms in partnership with vendors.
• Develop, test, and maintain database architectures to ensure data integrity standards are met.
• Develop and maintain a data governance process for data warehouses.
• Maintain the district's data dictionary for key data elements.
• Develop SQL queries, research-ready datasets, and dashboard-ready database views for reporting and analysis.
• Respond to requests from the data team to resolve integration failures or errors.
• Support in identifying, designing, and implementing internal process improvements.

Requirements

• Master's or equivalent in computer science, information technology, database management, development, analytics, or equivalent plus 2 years' experience as a Data Analyst, Software Engineer, MIS Specialist, or related occupation.
• Alternatively, Bachelor's or equivalent in computer science, information technology, database management, development, analytics, or equivalent field plus 5 years' experience as a Data Analyst, Software Engineer, MIS Specialist, or related occupation.
• Working knowledge/proficiency in software development, database design, architecture, and ETL pipeline development.
