About the position

The Senior Data Engineer role at Bank of America focuses on driving data engineering efforts to deliver enterprise-wide capabilities and complex data solutions. This position involves directing code design and delivery tasks related to data integration, cleaning, transformation, and control in operational and analytical data systems. The role requires technical thought leadership in implementing complex data solutions and interactions across multiple systems and domains, while also collaborating with project management to define outcomes and inform work structures.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement a range of analytics and automation solutions, including data extraction, analysis, reporting, and dashboard design.
  • Assemble large, complex data sets that meet functional and non-functional requirements.
  • Maintain, improve, clean, and manipulate large data for operational and analytics data systems.
  • Utilize multiple architectural components in the design and development of client requirements.
  • Define and build data pipelines to enable data-informed decision making.
  • Contribute to existing test suites including integration, regression, and performance.
  • Lead the identification of gaps in data management standards adherence and develop plans to close gaps.
  • Mentor Data Engineers in the delivery and release of continuous integration and continuous delivery events.
  • Utilize analytical skills to develop analytics & automated testing solutions using various tools and programming languages.
  • Support the design and execution of new analytics, automated testing tools, and models.
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring timely and efficient completion.
  • Coordinate, schedule, scope, and lead large, cross-functional analytics & automation activities.
  • Exercise judgment and critical thinking to influence business partners.
  • Coach and train junior team members in execution of analytics and automation activities.

Requirements

  • Intermediate to advanced knowledge of SQL, SAS, Alteryx, Python, Tableau or related tools.
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel.
  • Advanced analytic skills to navigate systems, access data, reconcile numbers, and identify discrepancies and trends.
  • Strong track record of implementing automated solutions related to data & analytics.
  • Ability to work independently or in teams on multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills, with the ability to communicate with both technical and executive audiences.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with model development, machine learning / artificial intelligence, and data science.
  • Experience with DataRobot, Instabase, and UIPath.
