About the position

The Senior Data Engineer at IQVIA Institute for Human Data Science plays a crucial role in enhancing the productivity of researchers and analysts by generating efficient and accurate datasets from various internal and external systems. This position involves collaboration with research directors and data scientists to prioritize solutions that meet business and information needs, overseeing the entire data product development life cycle, and implementing new process technologies to improve internal data pipelines and modeling frameworks. The role requires strong analytical skills and the ability to create complex information links for data integration, ensuring robust documentation and testing of developed processes.

Responsibilities

  • Work with institute research directors, data scientists, and researchers to prioritize solutions for business and information needs.
  • Coordinate initial requirements with business owners and develop repeatable production steps with minimal manual intervention.
  • Advise or lead the development, implementation, and validation of new process technologies, macros, and applications.
  • Identify opportunities for improvements to internal processes regarding model development and data pipelines.
  • Collaborate with data scientists to transform working prototypes into reusable modules for data science projects.
  • Create complex information links to pull data from multiple sources and integrate databases with optimized data acquisition approaches.
  • Design and conduct comprehensive documentation and testing of developed processes and code.
  • Oversee multiple projects from concept to completion in a self-directed and collaborative manner.

Requirements

  • Master's Degree in Computer Science or related field and 7 years of relevant experience, or a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related field and 8 years of relevant experience, or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of higher-level programming languages such as SAS, Python, SQL, and ability to perform exploratory data analysis (EDA), data wrangling, and report generation.
  • Experience in creating dashboards on Power BI/Tableau platform.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to process scientific data and familiarity with pharmaceutical and clinical trial data.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work independently.
  • Strong knowledge of statistical programming and ability to identify data issues and implement solutions quickly.
