About the position

The Senior Data Engineer position at HII's Mission Technologies division focuses on refining a centralized data environment (CDE) that impacts the Department of Defense (DoD). The role involves designing and managing complex data applications, ensuring the delivery of auditable financial transaction data, and building a common operating picture for leadership. The position requires strong technical skills in Python and SQL, along with effective communication and teamwork abilities.

Responsibilities

• Designs, models, documents, and guides the logical and conceptual relationship of data and database changes for complex applications.
• Analyzes needs and requirements of existing and proposed systems, and develops technical, structural, and organizational specifications.
• Creates standards and/or does modeling to monitor and enhance capacity and performance.
• Guides development aligned to established business needs and/or policies.
• Additional duties as assigned or required.

Requirements

• 5 years relevant experience with a Bachelor's in a related field; 3 years relevant experience with a Master's in a related field; 0 years experience with a PhD or Juris Doctorate in a related field; or High School Diploma or equivalent and 9 years relevant experience.
• Python experience.
• Relational Database (SQL) experience.
• Strong SQL skills for querying, managing, and optimizing relational databases.
• Must possess and maintain a Secret clearance.

Nice-to-haves

• Ability to understand the transactional nature of the data being reviewed.
• Experience with FMS.
• Security+ Certification.
