About the position

The Senior Data Engineer in Payments Security at Amazon is responsible for developing and implementing data engineering strategies that enhance the security of payment systems. This role involves collaborating with various stakeholders to create actionable insights from data, ensuring the security of millions of transactions processed daily. The position requires a blend of technical expertise, business acumen, and analytical skills to support the Payments Security organization in achieving its goals.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the data strategy for Payments Security, including data pipeline architecture and tool selection.
  • Provide data-related support by defining requirements, identifying new data sources, and maintaining data pipelines.
  • Create and maintain roadmaps for the data engineering program in Payments Security.
  • Define and refine metrics including KPIs and build associated data pipelines and dashboards.
  • Work with junior Data Engineers to build dashboards for Payments development teams and Payments Security.
  • Support reporting requirements for various Payments Security activities.
  • Mentor junior Data Engineers and other functions in Payments Security.
  • Develop a deep understanding of Amazon Payments services and contribute to data strategy.
  • Lead new data engineering requests with end-to-end ownership.
  • Support team building, recruiting, and onboarding activities.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of data engineering experience
  • Experience in at least one modern scripting or programming language (Python, Java, Scala, or NodeJS)
  • Experience communicating with users and technical teams to collect requirements and describe data modeling decisions
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, analytics, mathematics, statistics, IT or equivalent
  • 3+ years of experience as Data Engineer in application security, product security, or systems security team.
