About the position

As a Senior Data Engineer on the Product Platform team at Hinge, you will play a crucial role in designing, building, and optimizing data pipelines and products that support essential product services. Your work will directly impact the reliability and scalability of these services, enhancing the user experience for millions of users. You will collaborate with product and engineering teams to tackle large-scale data challenges, ensuring data consistency, low latency, and fault tolerance, ultimately driving data-driven decisions and improvements in product services.

Responsibilities

  • Design, build, and optimize data pipelines that support critical foundational product services.
  • Drive advancements in the Data Engineering stack by implementing containerization and refining data modeling techniques.
  • Leverage data modeling expertise to design, build, and maintain the analytics data warehouse for reliable datasets.
  • Advocate for Data Engineering best practices within the team and support continuous improvement.
  • Work with stakeholders to understand their data needs and translate them into actionable solutions.
  • Continue learning about Data Engineering and identify opportunities to enhance pipelines.
  • Participate in on-call rotation to ensure system reliability and address issues promptly.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of professional experience in data engineering, delivering data products from conception to delivery.
  • Strong technical background in building and optimizing data pipelines, with proficiency in Python, SQL, and data modeling.
  • Technical expertise in Python, Go, Kubernetes, Docker, Terraform, CircleCI, GitHub Actions, Kafka, PubSub, Dataflow, Redshift, BigQuery, Databricks, dbt, Looker.
  • Experience with cloud environments such as GCP, AWS, or Azure.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
  • Effective analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
  • Mentorship experience, guiding junior data engineers and contributing to team growth.
  • A degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field.
