About the position

Amentum is seeking a Senior Data Engineer (RDT&E) to support the DIA Analytic Innovations Office Advanced Analytics & Product Evaluation contract. This position is based in Washington, D.C., where all employees will initially start. However, upon request and with customer approval, employees may be allowed to work from locations such as Reston VA, Quantico VA, or College Park MD. The role is critical in supporting defense analytical requirements through enhanced scientific and engineering research, capability and limitation analysis, as well as reverse engineering analysis and characterizations. The responsibilities include conducting facility and vulnerability assessments, with a focus on complex foreign electronic systems, subsystems, facilities, and equipment. The analysis can emphasize various areas related to electric power, microelectronics, electronic hardware, circuits, sensors, guidance and control, signals, and electromagnetic systems, including electro-optical (EO) and infrared (IR) technologies associated with current and projected electronic systems and subsystems. The Senior Data Engineer will be responsible for designing, implementing, and operating data management systems tailored to intelligence needs. This includes designing data storage, access, use, integration, and management for different data regimes and digital systems. The engineer will collaborate with data users to determine, create, and populate optimal data architectures, structures, and systems. Additionally, the role involves planning, designing, and optimizing data throughput and query performance. The engineer will participate in the selection of backend database technologies, such as SQL, NoSQL, and Graph Database, ensuring their configuration and utilization are optimized to support the data pipeline infrastructure. This infrastructure must accommodate the actual content, volume, ETL processes, and periodicity of data to facilitate the intended queries and analyses, ensuring responsiveness to user needs.
