About the position

CNA is seeking an individual contributor who will provide high-level expertise in the design, development, and integration of strategic data applications throughout the software development lifecycle, particularly in an Agile environment. This role involves building large-scale data processing systems and data lakes on Google Cloud Platform, creating ETL processes, and leading the design and implementation of data pipelines. The position also includes providing guidance to others and ensuring adherence to quality and reliability standards.

Responsibilities

• Build large-scale data processing systems and data lakes optimized for computational and storage efficiency on Google Cloud Platform.
• Create ETL processes to build warehouse tables for reporting on Insurance Policy and Claim domain data.
• Design and implement complex physical data models on columnar cloud databases like BigQuery.
• Lead the design, implementation, and automation of data pipelines sourcing data from internal and external systems.
• Conduct robust unit testing to ensure deliverables match the design and support subsequent release testing.
• Adhere to established quality and reliability standards in an Agile development environment.
• Lead the creation of integrated data views based on business or analytics requirements.
• Research, identify, and implement process improvements to address complex technology gaps.
• Maintain professional and technical knowledge through workshops, publications, and networking.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, applied computer science, computer engineering, or related field.
• 5 years of experience as a software developer, data engineer, consultant, or related role.
• Experience building large-scale data processing systems and data lakes on Google Cloud Platform or AWS within the insurance domain.
• Experience creating ETL processes for reporting on Insurance Policy and Claim domain data.
• Experience designing and implementing complex physical data models on columnar cloud databases like BigQuery or Redshift.
