About the position

The Senior Data Engineer at Zurich North America will play a crucial role in the Chief Data Office, focusing on data engineering tasks within a hybrid work environment. This position requires a blend of technical expertise and strategic thinking to support the company's data initiatives and drive sustainable change.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or Mathematics/Statistics and 6 or more years of experience in the Data Engineering area
• High School Diploma or Equivalent and 8 or more years of experience in the Data Engineering area
• Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice including an Associate Degree in Computer Science or Mathematics/Statistics and 6 or more years of experience in the Data Engineering area
• 5 or more years of experience in Enterprise Data Engineering
• Experience in scripting languages
• Experience with data transformation and aggregation tools
• Experience in data analysis, data interrogation or data profiling

Nice-to-haves

• Strong understanding of MS Azure Fundamentals
• Conceptual understanding of Azure AI and ML
• Strong understanding of Azure analytics, compute and databases (SQL DB, Databricks, ADF, ADX, Synapse, Data Lake, AKS, SnowFlake, Yellowbricks etc.)
• Strong understanding of Python, PySpark
• Expert understanding of SQL
• Expert understanding of ETL tools such as Informatica
• Background developing a technology roadmap/strategic thinking
• Strong analytical and problem solving skills
• Background working in agile methodology
• Ability to explain technology concepts to business stakeholders
• Background with stakeholder management
• Azure Fundamentals Certificate
• Disciplined Agile Scrum/Kanban practitioner
