About the position

As a Senior Data Engineer at EcoMap, you will play a crucial role in developing and optimizing scalable engineering solutions for the company's core products. This position involves working on both modernizing existing infrastructure and building new systems that will be central to EcoMap's platform. You will collaborate with a diverse team of engineers, product managers, data scientists, and operations teams to create data pipelines and tools that simplify business requirements and enhance data infrastructure.

Responsibilities

  • Create and maintain data pipeline architecture.
  • Assemble large, complex data sets that meet functional and non-functional business requirements.
  • Identify, design, and implement internal process improvements, including automating manual processes and optimizing data delivery.
  • Build the infrastructure required for optimal extraction, transformation, and loading of data from various sources.
  • Work with stakeholders to assist with data-related technical issues and support their data infrastructure needs.
  • Ensure secure handling and storage of data assets in line with industry standards.
  • Create data tools for analytics and data science team members.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience in a Data Engineer role.
  • Degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Informatics, Information Systems, or equivalent work experience.
  • Advanced working SQL knowledge and experience with relational databases.
  • Experience building and optimizing big data pipelines and architectures.
  • Strong analytic skills related to working with unstructured datasets.
  • Experience with message queuing, stream processing, and scalable big data stores.
  • Strong project management and organizational skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Familiarity with advanced distributed web scraping techniques.
  • Experience leading data science/analytics projects.
  • Interest in machine learning.
  • Background in coaching and mentorship.
