About the position

As a Senior Data Engineer at Capital One, you will play a crucial role in building and maintaining scalable, low-latency, fault-tolerant streaming data platforms. This position involves collaborating with various teams to deliver deep data insights that enhance customer engagement and support business strategies. You will leverage your technical leadership skills to mentor junior engineers, troubleshoot production issues, and lead initiatives across multiple stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Design and build Enterprise Level scalable, low-latency, fault-tolerant streaming data platforms.
• Develop Distributed Streaming Data Pipelines and Analytics Data Stores using frameworks like Flink and Spark Streaming.
• Build data pipelines using big data technologies such as Spark, Flink, Kafka, and AWS Big Data Services.
• Work in an agile environment focusing on CI/CD and application resiliency standards.
• Stay updated on tech trends and mentor other engineering community members.
• Collaborate with Agile teams to design, develop, test, implement, and support technical solutions.
• Deliver robust cloud-based solutions in collaboration with digital product managers.
• Perform unit tests and conduct code reviews to ensure high-quality code.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree
• At least 3 years of experience in application development
• At least 1 year of experience in big data technologies

Nice-to-haves

• 5+ years of experience in application development including Python, SQL, Scala, or Java
• 2+ years of experience with a public cloud (AWS, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud)
• 3+ years experience with Distributed data computing tools (Kafka, Spark, Flink)
• 2+ year experience working on real-time data and streaming applications
• 2+ years of experience with NoSQL implementation (DynamoDB, OpenSearch)
• 2+ years of data warehousing experience (Redshift or Snowflake)
• 3+ years of experience with UNIX/Linux including basic commands and shell scripting
• 2+ years of experience with Agile engineering practices
