About The Position
Draper is seeking a Senior Data Engineer to join our Data Retrieval, Engineering, Architecture, and Management group. This position offers an exciting opportunity to develop unique and creative solutions to complex system-level problems across various domains, including strategic deterrent systems, missile defense systems, space systems, precision guided munitions, autonomous vehicles, and biotechnology systems. The group is responsible for architecting and building processes that enable Data-as-a-Service for both suppliers and consumers of data within the Digital Engineering Ecosystem, ensuring the quality, protection, and availability of data throughout the system lifecycle. As a Senior Data Engineer, you will work in an Agile environment, converting customer requirements into functional, scalable software solutions. You will be involved in the entire project lifecycle, from design and requirements gathering to testing and deployment in the field. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in data modeling, database technologies (including relational, graph, and NoSQL), and developing data pipelines. You will also be expected to work effectively both independently and as part of cross-functional teams, demonstrating excellent communication skills to convey technical concepts to customers, engineers, managers, and other stakeholders. We value continuous learning and professional growth, and the successful candidate will be expected to adapt to evolving priorities while maintaining a curiosity-driven approach to solving complex, customer-driven problems. This role also includes mentoring less experienced staff and leading a small team of software developers on projects, contributing to system architecture decisions, and driving solutions to complex problems.
