CNA is seeking an individual contributor who will provide a high level of expertise in the design, development, and integration of strategic, high-priority data applications across the entire software development lifecycle, particularly in an Agile environment. This role is crucial for building large-scale data processing systems and data lakes that are optimized for both computational and storage efficiency on the Google Cloud Platform. The successful candidate will be responsible for creating ETL processes that build warehouse tables to facilitate reporting on Insurance Policy and Claim domain data from Policy and Claim processing systems. In addition to these responsibilities, the role involves designing and implementing complex physical data models on columnar cloud databases such as BigQuery. The individual will lead the design, implementation, and automation of data pipelines that source data from both internal and external systems, transforming the data to meet the optimal needs of various systems and business requirements. A key aspect of this position is to ensure that robust unit testing is conducted to verify that deliverables match the design specifications, while also providing expertise to support subsequent release testing. The candidate will actively adhere to established quality and reliability standards, ensuring that the team also maintains these standards while working in an Agile development environment. Furthermore, the role includes leading the creation of integrated data views based on business or analytics requirements, researching, identifying, and implementing process improvements that address complex technology gaps, and building strong knowledge of technology enablers. Continuous professional and technical development is encouraged through educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, and participating in professional societies. This position allows for up to 80% telecommuting from anywhere in the United States, providing flexibility in the work environment. The role typically reports to a Director or above and is based in Chicago, Illinois, with a standard work schedule of Monday to Friday, 8:30 AM to 4:45 PM, totaling 37.5 hours per week.
