About the position

The Senior Data Solutions Engineer at Royal Caribbean Group is responsible for building, managing, and optimizing complex enterprise data pipelines. This role focuses on integrating Silversea data into the existing data landscape and supports the Customer Data Platform (CDP) Engineering, which is essential for eCommerce initiatives. The position requires strong technical and analytical skills to solve business problems while ensuring data governance and security compliance.

Responsibilities

  • Engage with analysts to understand common data requests and key metrics.
  • Create and maintain technical design documentation.
  • Lead requirements gathering, data mapping, and designing.
  • Design full lifecycle of data from source to target including data profiling, mapping, and cataloguing.
  • Create, build, and maintain complex data pipelines from disparate sources.
  • Create, maintain, and reuse existing ETL/ELT processes using various data integration tools.
  • Mentor engineers in designing, preparing, and storing data for analytical and operational use cases.
  • Identify, design, and implement internal process improvements.
  • Work with stakeholders to assist with data-related technical issues.
  • Create datasets for operational reports and analytics.
  • Write, debug, and implement complex queries across platforms.
  • Collaborate with the Enterprise Architecture team to ensure alignment on data standards.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Computer Science, Information Technology or equivalent.
  • 5+ years of experience in a data/cloud engineering role.
  • 5+ years of experience working and creating datasets for a data warehouse.
  • Clear understanding of data modeling patterns (relational and dimensional).
  • 5+ years of experience with ETL development tools, preferably Informatica or Azure Data Factory (ADF).
  • 3+ years of cloud experience, preferably Azure.
  • Experience with large, heterogeneous datasets and optimizing data pipelines.
  • Expert level knowledge with programming languages including SQL, PL/SQL, T-SQL.
  • Experience with NoSQL databases is a plus.
  • Experience with a scripting language: Python, Java, Scala, etc.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with streaming technologies (Kafka, Pubsub, Kinesis).
  • Familiarity with reporting tools (Microsoft Power BI, Hyperion, Oracle OBIEE, Tableau).
  • Knowledge and experience working with agile methodologies and tools (such as Jira).
