About the position
The Senior Data Engineer role is a hybrid position focused on designing, developing, testing, implementing, and supporting technical solutions using full-stack development tools and technologies. The position requires collaboration with Agile teams and involves working with advanced technologies in machine learning, distributed microservices, and cloud-based data warehousing services. The role emphasizes mentoring, staying updated with tech trends, and delivering robust solutions that empower users financially.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with and across Agile teams to design, develop, test, implement, and support technical solutions in full-stack development tools and technologies.
- Work with a team of developers experienced in machine learning, distributed microservices, and full-stack systems.
- Utilize programming languages like Java, Scala, Python, and Open Source technologies.
- Work with RDBMS and NoSQL databases and cloud-based data warehousing services such as Redshift and Snowflake.
- Share passion for tech trends, experiment with new technologies, and mentor other engineering community members.
- Collaborate with digital product managers to deliver cloud-based solutions that enhance user experiences.
- Perform unit tests and conduct code reviews to ensure high-quality code design and performance.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree
- At least 5 years of experience in application development (Internship experience does not apply)
- At least 2 years of experience in big data technologies
- At least 2 years of experience working in an AWS environment (S3/Lambda)
- 5+ years of experience with Python, Spark, and Glue
Nice-to-haves
- 7+ years of experience in application development including Python, SQL, and Scala
- 4+ years of experience with a public cloud (AWS, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud)
- 4+ years of experience with distributed data/computing tools (MapReduce, Hadoop, Hive, EMR, Kafka, Spark, Gurobi, or MySQL)
- 4+ years of experience working on real-time data and streaming applications
- 4+ years of experience with NoSQL implementation (Mongo, Cassandra)
- 4+ years of data warehousing experience (Redshift or Snowflake)
- 4+ years of experience with UNIX/Linux including basic commands and shell scripting
- 2+ years of experience with Agile engineering practices
- Experience with Databricks
- Experience with building and managing data pipelines
- Experience with Tableau/QuickSight
