About the position

LMI is seeking a Senior Data Engineer to support a federal program management office (PMO) focused on enhancing technology and capabilities for border safety. This role involves providing quality assurance support and developing technical solutions to address complex challenges faced by clients. The ideal candidate will be a proactive self-starter, working collaboratively within an interdisciplinary team to deliver efficient solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and deploy technical solutions to solve customer problems using various platforms.
  • Meet with clients to determine software needs and provide solutions.
  • Code and test software to ensure functionality and update programs as needed.
  • Setup transfers of data feeds from source systems and integrate with existing data.
  • Debug issues related to delayed or missing data feeds.
  • Monitor build progress and debug build problems in conjunction with deployment teams.
  • Rapidly develop and iterate with subject matter experts, including testing and troubleshooting application issues.
  • Gather and evaluate user feedback to recommend and execute improvements.
  • Create technical documentation for reference and reporting.
  • Create dashboards for actionable decisions for senior leaders.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of relevant experience with a STEM BS degree or 7 years relevant experience with an MS degree in computer science or systems engineering.
  • Strong experience with Microsoft Power BI.
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Python (Pyspark, Pandas), SQL, R, JavaScript, or similar languages.
  • Working knowledge of databases and SQL; linking analytic and data visualization products to database connections.
  • Ability to work effectively in teams of technical and non-technical individuals.
  • Demonstrated ability to continuously learn and work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, organizational skills, and problem-solving skills.
