About the position

The Senior Data Governance Analyst will play a pivotal role within the Center for DATA, providing essential support and leadership for the data governance initiatives across the University System of New Hampshire (USNH). This position focuses on the governance of academic and student-related data and systems, ensuring that standards are developed and maintained while tracking decisions that support both strategic and operational needs of the USNH institutions. The analyst will be responsible for leading client support efforts, promoting data literacy initiatives, and facilitating effective communication across various stakeholders. Additionally, the role includes project management responsibilities, overseeing related projects to ensure successful implementation and adherence to governance standards. In this capacity, the Senior Data Governance Analyst will collaborate closely with data stewards and academic clients to understand their data governance needs, develop solutions using appropriate tools, and lead projects that address these information needs. This includes managing large, multi-departmental efforts and partnering with business intelligence developers to operationalize plans that support the institution's business objectives. The analyst will also be tasked with leading client support efforts, providing end-user support, developing ad-hoc reports, and conducting training sessions and workshops to enhance the data governance capabilities of the Center for DATA's clients. Furthermore, the analyst will engage in strategic planning with academic leaders and units, participating in USNH-wide initiatives aimed at improving access to and utilization of academic data. This includes leading efforts to enhance the effectiveness of reporting and information solutions, as well as participating in governance groups and committees to ensure alignment with institutional goals. The position may be fully remote, offering flexibility in work arrangements.

Responsibilities

  • Provide expertise and leadership to collaborate with data stewards, academic clients, and units to understand data governance, glossary, and general information needs.
  • Develop solutions to meet needs with appropriate tools and lead projects to meet information needs including large, multi-department efforts.
  • Partner with Center for DATA business intelligence developers to turn plans into operational processes supporting our business.
  • Lead Center for DATA client support efforts regarding data governance and initiatives and establish effective services and processes to meet client needs.
  • Provide support to Center for DATA clients including end user support, ad-hoc report development, and formal and informal training sessions and workshops.
  • Lead and participate in USNH-wide and institutional planning efforts to improve and mature access to and use of academic data.
  • Take part in and lead efforts to improve effectiveness of reporting and information solutions to meet needs.
  • Participate in USNH wide governance groups and committees.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree and five years of experience in the information technology field, or a Master's degree and four years of experience, or a combination of education and experience equal to ten years.
  • Demonstrated experience in data governance in a higher education environment, developing effective rules and processes to control and manage data across complex environments and organizations.
  • Knowledge of and experience implementing DAMA DMBOK oriented data governance systems.
  • Experience working with academic leaders and units or similar experiences in large organizations.
  • Understanding of and experience with data governance technologies and concepts, relational databases, business and systems analysis for business intelligence efforts, Tableau, BusinessObjects/Crystal Reports, PowerBI or other reporting technologies, and SQL.
  • Familiarity with PL/SQL, data modeling tools, knowledge of Banner Finance, HR, and Student systems and/or Workday Finance, HR, and Student systems.
  • Experience with UNH and USNH information technology systems.
  • Ability to lead technical and non-technical projects.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work with both technical and non-technical clients.

Nice-to-haves
