About the position

The Senior Data Platform Architect will lead the architecture, administration, and cost management of Aristocrat's Enterprise Data Platform (EDP). This role combines technical leadership with hands-on expertise, focusing on defining the cloud data platform strategy and driving modernization efforts. The architect will ensure scalability, maintainability, and cost management while collaborating with other Centers of Excellence (COEs) within the company.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, administer, and maintain the enterprise data platform (EDP) with a focus on cloud technology.
• Maintain access management to ensure data integrity, security, and compliance.
• Build procedures and utilities to track performance and cost for data engineering infrastructure.
• Implement infrastructure as code to optimize and automate maintenance tasks and code promotions.
• Investigate and incorporate modern data services and technologies to enhance the data platform's functionality and efficiency.
• Review and suggest enhancements to data solutions focusing on cost efficiency and user accessibility.
• Lead the definition of data engineering frameworks to promote accessibility and benefit a wide range of user groups.
• Collaborate with the Enterprise Data Architect to build a resilient, maintainable, and scalable data architecture.
• Support data governance initiatives for data quality, integrity, and metadata management.
• Work with the Director of Data Engineering to promote consistency and efficiency in data engineering processes.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in computer science or mathematics or equivalent experience.
• 10+ years' experience in Data Platform architecture and Engineering.
• 10+ years' experience with data lakes, data warehouses, streaming platforms, and cloud platforms.
• Experience implementing and administering a cloud platform such as Google Cloud Platform (GCP) or similar.
• In-depth knowledge of storage approaches, security, data management, and cloud services.
• Experience with modern cloud data platforms like Snowflake or similar.
• Experience analyzing, designing, and implementing scalable data platforms with large data volumes.
• Experience in data management, enhancing data quality, and accelerating data-driven insights.
• Knowledge of dataOps best practices including CI/CD, monitoring, and automation.
• Experience in Python and modular transformation tools such as dbt.
• Experience with relational databases like SQL Server or Oracle.
