About the position

The Senior Data Science Analyst position at Mayo Clinic is a pivotal role within the newly established Computational Pathology & AI division of the Department of Laboratory Medicine and Pathology (DLMP). This role focuses on managing the full life cycle of AI projects, from ideation to implementation, ensuring best practices are followed. The analyst will collaborate with various stakeholders, including clinicians and external partners, to develop predictive models and data analysis tools that enhance patient health outcomes and support clinical decision-making.

Responsibilities

  • Manage multiple AI projects from idea through implementation.
  • Develop model training pipelines for image-based and tabular data.
  • Assist in developing and translating prototype models for production-level software.
  • Build toolkits for bulk annotation, data visualization, and statistical analysis.
  • Communicate effectively with collaborative teams to ensure project success.
  • Provide consultative services at an enterprise level to various departments.
  • Develop predictive models on large-scale datasets using advanced statistical modeling and machine learning techniques.
  • Lead the interpretation of data analysis and report writing.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, mathematics, computer science, health science, or a related field.
  • At least 12 graduate-level semester hours in domain-relevant sciences or seven years of data science and AI experience.
  • PhD or master's degree with one year of experience in a relevant field is preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide consultative services to departments and committees.
  • Advanced expertise in AI, machine learning, deep learning, and statistical data processing.
  • Strong knowledge of healthcare data types and scientific challenges.
  • Good written and oral communication skills.
  • Experience with scientific computing and data management packages.
