About the position

The Senior Data Scientist at MoneyGram is responsible for leading innovative data science and machine learning initiatives, guiding the organization on methodologies and best practices. This role involves collaborating with various teams to analyze large datasets, develop insights, and solve complex business problems through statistical and quantitative methods. The position requires a strong background in data analytics, model development, and stakeholder management, contributing significantly to the company's data-driven decision-making processes.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to solving business problems by framing the problems and determining the intended approach and statistical/quantitative methods.
  • Engage with partners to advise on analytical project requirements and negotiate deliverables.
  • Evaluate and deploy data analysis techniques in informative reporting, discovery, extrapolative, and adaptive domains.
  • Build scalable and high-performance engines that automate data analysis processes where possible.
  • Rapidly test hypotheses by developing prototypes and running experiments.
  • Analyze pre-existing models and algorithms to suggest improvements for efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Deliver custom Data Science projects including Agent and Consumer Risk Modeling, Customer Lifetime Value, and Image Recognition.
  • Learn and practice using new tools in a technical environment that combines coding and statistical skills.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience in a data analytics capacity.
  • 3+ years of experience in technical model development and implementation, model validation, and/or model oversight.
  • Thorough understanding and experience working with big data technologies.
  • Advanced data wrangling skills, including consolidating and joining data, creating formulas, and deduplication.
  • Extensive machine learning and modeling experience with multiple delivered projects.
  • Experience with exploratory data analysis and a conceptual understanding of time series analysis, clustering, or segmentation.
  • Hands-on experience using big data technologies.
  • Proficiency in SQL, Python, Big Query ML, and AutoML.
  • Ability to independently communicate technical and statistical concepts to non-practitioners.

Nice-to-haves
