About the position

The Senior Data Scientist role at AWS Managed Operations Data Science (MODS) involves leading research and driving data-driven transformation across the organization. The position requires a Full Stack Data Scientist to manage the end-to-end data science lifecycle, utilizing various tools and technologies to solve complex business problems and provide actionable insights for AWS operations.

Responsibilities

• Interact with business and software teams to understand their business requirements and operational processes.
• Conduct in-depth exploratory data analysis to understand the structure, quality, and patterns within complex datasets.
• Frame business problems into scalable solutions and translate complex data insights into actionable recommendations.
• Contribute to the design and implementation of data pipelines, data lakes, and other data infrastructure components.
• Define and develop advanced metrics and key performance indicators (KPIs) that capture the organization's strategic objectives.
• Prototype models using high-level modeling languages such as R or software languages such as Python.
• Create, enhance, and maintain technical documentation.

Requirements

• 6+ years of data scientist experience
• 5+ years of experience with data querying languages (e.g. SQL), scripting languages (e.g. Python), or statistical/mathematical software (e.g. R, SAS, Matlab)
• Experience with statistical models such as multinomial logistic regression.

Nice-to-haves

• Master's degree in a quantitative field such as statistics, mathematics, data science, business analytics, economics, finance, engineering, or computer science
• 8+ years of data scientist experience
• 6+ years of experience in data visualization using AWS QuickSight, Tableau, R Shiny, etc.
• Experience managing data pipelines
• Experience as a leader and mentor on a data science team.
