The Global Insights team plays a crucial role in this mission, collaborating closely with game development, business, and internal service teams to generate insights and models that enhance player experiences. Within this team, the machine learning and AI group is dedicated to leveraging cutting-edge research to develop lasting data products and tools that empower our game and business teams. We are currently seeking a Senior Data Scientist specializing in machine learning applications in computer graphics to join our Global Insights team. This role is pivotal in designing and deploying data-driven products and services that support the ongoing development of Blizzard games. The ideal candidate will have a deep passion for the latest innovations in machine learning and AI, along with expertise in designing deep learning systems specifically within the computer graphics domain. Strong programming skills are essential for deploying and maintaining these systems effectively. As a Senior Data Scientist, you will be responsible for researching and developing state-of-the-art machine learning solutions tailored to computer graphics challenges, ultimately enhancing game development and gameplay objectives. You will work closely with software engineers and technical artists to ensure seamless deployment, automation, and maintenance of models within production systems. Additionally, you will play a key role in communicating complex machine learning models and products to both technical and non-technical audiences, ensuring clarity and understanding across teams.

Responsibilities

  • Research and develop state-of-the-art machine learning solutions for computer graphic problems to enhance game development and gameplay objectives.
  • Work closely with software engineers and tech artists to deploy, automate, and maintain models seamlessly on production systems.
  • Communicate about machine learning models and products to both technical and non-technical audiences.

Requirements

  • Has 2+ years' work experience with Master or PhD in ML and computer graphics
  • Hands-on experience with one or more of the following: deep learning on 3D representations, generative models such as diffusion models and generative adversarial network (GAN), and deep learning for character animation
  • Hands-on applied or research experience developing machine learning models on large image/3D model data sets
  • Proficient in Python and experienced in at least one other higher-level programming languages like Java, C++, C#, etc.
  • Practical experience with deep learning libraries/frameworks like Tensorflow, Pytorch, Keras, or JAX

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with 3D graphics programs like 3ds Max, Maya, Blender, or Houdini
  • Experience with game engines like Unreal or Unity
  • Experience with procedural content generation for video games
  • Experience with cloud computing services like Google Cloud, AWS (Amazon Web Service), or Azure
  • Experience with real-time computer graphics libraries like OpenGL, DirectX, or Vulkan
  • A track record of original contributions to research communities of ML and computer graphics
