About the position

The Senior Data Scientist at Walmart will focus on enhancing in-store customer experiences through the development and deployment of advanced computer vision algorithms and machine learning models. This role is integral to a cross-functional team dedicated to leveraging emerging technologies to meet evolving customer expectations and improve the overall shopping experience for millions of customers.

Responsibilities

• Develop computer vision algorithms and machine learning models to enhance customer-facing applications.
• Collaborate with a mixed team of software engineers and computer vision engineers on various projects.
• Research, develop, and analyze computer vision algorithms related to object detection, tracking, product identification, and scene understanding.
• Ensure model robustness, generalization, accuracy, testability, and efficiency.
• Write product or system development code.

Requirements

• Currently pursuing or has obtained a PhD in Computer Science, Computer Vision, or a relevant technical field, or an MS with 2 years of industry experience.
• Experience in machine learning, deep learning, or computer vision.
• Proficiency in programming languages and a technical background.
• Demonstrated experience in solving complex problems and evaluating alternative solutions.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with open-source frameworks such as scikit-learn, TensorFlow, or PyTorch.
• Knowledge of accessibility best practices and experience in creating inclusive digital experiences.
• Successful completion of assessments in Python, Spark, Scala, or R.
