About the position

The position involves working as a data scientist at SAP, focusing on the development and deployment of AI/ML modules that drive complex business applications. The role requires collaboration with a team of architects and developers across various geographies, adhering to agile engineering practices, and mentoring junior team members. The candidate will be responsible for the entire lifecycle of development projects, from ideation to support, while ensuring high-quality solutions and insightful analysis.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with a team of architects and developers across geographies and time zones.
• Work on the entire lifecycle of development projects, both customer-specific and SAP-defined.
• Design, develop, deploy, and monitor efficient AI/ML modules for complex business applications.
• Adhere to SAP's agile engineering practices and processes, owning code from ideation to development.
• Conceptualize, design, and deliver high-quality solutions and insightful analysis.
• Gather data and requirements, participate in solution scoping and architecture, and research innovative models.
• Build solutions by exploring data, validating models, and deploying them for maximum business impact.
• Interact with internal and external stakeholders as required.
• Handle multiple projects as an individual contributor and mentor junior resources.
• Stay up-to-date with the latest best practices in delivering enterprise-grade data science solutions.
• Identify and translate real-world customer problems into feasible technical solutions.

Requirements

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in a highly quantitative field (Machine Learning, Operational Research, Statistics, Mathematics, etc.).
• Five plus years of industry experience in a data scientist role.
• Solid understanding of mathematics related to data science - probability, statistics, linear algebra, etc.
• Extensive knowledge of various machine learning algorithms and concepts used to build predictive models.
• In-depth knowledge in at least 2 of the following data science domains: Text Analysis and Natural Language Processing, Neural Networks and Deep Learning, Signal Processing, Image/Video processing and recognition, Reinforcement Learning.
• Hands-on experience with computational packages (Numpy, Scipy, Pandas, Scikit-Learn, StatsModels, Keras, Tensorflow, etc.) and visualization tools.
• Highly proficient in SQL and good knowledge of relational databases.
• Prior experience in deploying machine learning models into production.
• Experience in working with GPUs to develop models.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Demonstrated ability to independently develop new concepts and stay current with academic research.

Nice-to-haves

• Exposure to SAP modules.
• Prior experience in cloud technologies on platforms like Azure, AWS, GCP, and SAP Business Technology Platform.
