About the position

As a key member of Amgen's Combination Product Operation's (CPO) Digital and Data Strategy team, the Senior Data Scientist: Digital Product Manager will play a crucial role in driving digital transformation within the biopharmaceutical industry. This position is focused on enhancing capabilities for digital threads and digital twins, which are essential for optimizing the combination product lifecycle. The Digital Product Manager will be responsible for the development, integration, and utilization of advanced digital tools across various enterprise systems, including PLM, ERP, ELN, and data fabrics. By leveraging cutting-edge technologies such as AI and Generative AI (GenAI), the role aims to deliver impactful digital solutions that ensure seamless data integration and accessibility throughout the product lifecycle. In this role, you will lead cross-functional teams, collaborating with internal stakeholders and external clients to understand their business needs and workflow challenges. You will also mentor junior team members, providing training and ongoing support on the use of digital tools, thereby fostering a culture of continuous learning and development. The position requires a strong focus on optimizing data utilization, enhancing the accuracy and depth of data analytics, and maintaining a digital thread across design outputs, testing, and data analytics. The Digital Product Manager will drive Agile methodologies throughout the project lifecycle, ensuring flexible and efficient project management and implementation. You will engage with partners to customize digital solutions that meet specific challenges and requirements, while also leading data science initiatives that drive the development and implementation of data-driven projects and innovations. This role involves executing data management tasks, including implementing complex data queries to extract, clean, and manipulate data from various sources, ensuring that the data is usable for detailed analysis and reporting.

Responsibilities

  • Drive the development, integration, and utilization of digital tools across enterprise systems such as PLM, ERP, ELN, and data fabrics.
  • Lead cross-functional teams to develop strategies that align with organizational goals and ensure the integration of digital tools.
  • Utilize and promote Agile project methodologies throughout the project lifecycle for effective project management.
  • Engage with internal and external partners to understand their challenges and customize digital solutions accordingly.
  • Mentor junior team members in customer engagement and provide training on digital tools.
  • Enhance the accuracy and depth of data analytics to deliver robust analytical outcomes.
  • Maintain a digital thread across design outputs, testing, and data analytics for comprehensive data integration.
  • Implement complex data queries to extract, clean, and manipulate data for analysis and reporting.

Requirements

  • High school diploma/GED and 10 years of Engineering experience OR
  • Associate's degree and 8 years of Engineering experience OR
  • Bachelor's Degree and 4 years of Engineering experience OR
  • Master's Degree and 2 years of Engineering experience OR
  • Doctorate Degree
  • M.S. or Ph.D. in engineering, Mechanical, Biomedical, bioengineering or Chemical is preferred.
  • 2-3 years of experience in healthcare (i.e., medical device, pharma, or biotech) or regulated industry is preferred.
  • Experience in initiating, driving, and successfully delivering projects from concept to completion is preferred.
  • Strong analytical skills to draw conclusions from data and trends.
  • Well versed in regulatory concepts such as GMP, GDP, and GCP including CFR Part 11.
  • Strong technical background to contribute to technical discussions and decisions.
  • Proven ability to communicate complex technical information clearly to non-technical audiences.
  • Ability to translate business requirements into non-technical terms and develop data-driven strategies.
  • High level of competence in SQL, Python, R, or other data manipulation languages.
  • Skilled in using tools like Tableau, Power BI, or similar for data visualizations.
  • Familiarity with Agile methodologies and experience managing projects using Agile.
